Blending colored pencils with a solvent isn't too difficult, but there are some things you need to get right to make it turn out good. To use a solvent you have to first draw the first layer of your drawing. This doesn't have to look good, you just need to get enough pigment down on the paper. But make sure you don't apply too much pigment either.

When doing some research on lightfast colored pencils I came across the Derwent Lightfast pencils. They were the second most expensive pencils I had ever seen. So naturally I wanted to try them and they were surprisingly good.

When I wanted to make a realistic drawing of an acid green Zenvo TS1 GT I couldn't find the right colors I needed in the Promarker color chart, so I looked further until I found these Copic Sketch markers. And I'm glad I did, because these markers are the best markers I've ever used, but also the most expensive.

I wanted to try this paper ever since I saw a video of Roman Miah using this paper. It made his drawing really pop so I wanted to try it too. This paper is probably the best grey toned paper out there. The texture is amazing for drawing with colored pencils. You can easily fill in the grain and make your drawing look very smooth and well blended. Though because the paper is grey the drawing might turn out a bit desaturated.

The Winsor & Newton Promarkers where the first alcohol based markers I used. And to this day they are still my go to markers. Winsor & Newton Promarkers are great markers for coloring larger areas and blending. They are available in 2 configurations: a bullet nib and a chisel nib (Promarker) and a brush nib and a chisel nib (Promarker Brush). The color selection lacks some really dark colors, but other than that there are many colors to choose from.

Sometimes you might, just like me, want to try another style. But there are so many to choose from. So I listed 8 of my favorite drawing styles that I have tried or want to try that you might want to give a go too.
