Drawing Supplies I Used To Draw L
To make this drawing of L, I used Ohuhu Honolulu markers in the colors Cloud Blue (PB9), Marine Blue (PB11), Cool Grey II 9 (CGII09), Warm Grey 1 (WG01), Warm Grey 07 (WG070), Neutral Grey 02 (CG020), Neutral Grey 05 (CG050), Neutral Grey 07 (CG070), Neutral Grey 6 (NG060), and Black (120).
I also used a black fineliner, a graphite pencil, and an eraser.
And I made this drawing on A4-sized Canson Illustration Manga paper, which I cut in half.
How To Draw L From Death Note?
Step 1: Sketch A Circle
To start sketching L, I sketched a circle in the top left corner, which I will use as a guide for his head.

Step 2: Sketch L's Hair and Chin
Next, I sketched L's wild and pointy hair, and I sketched his chin and jawline on the bottom.
On the top half of his head, all his hair points to the right, on the bottom half, it's more hanging down except for the hair on his forehead.

Step 3: Sketch L's Face
After that, I sketched L's eyes (which are just 2 circles covered by some hair), his nose (which is just a straight line and a dot to the right of it), and his mouth.

Step 4: Sketch 2 Straight Lines
Then, I continued with the rest of L's body.
I first sketched 2 straight lines. One below his head, which is on a slight diagonal. This one will be the top edge of his knees.
And a horizontal line at the center of the bottom of the paper. This one will be the bottom edge of his feet.

Step 5: Sketch L's Shins & Back
Next, I sketched the front edge of his lower legs.
I also sketched a diagonal line from the right edge of the bottom of his feet to the right and up a bit.

Next, I sketched his back, which is one long, slightly curved line reaching to the center of his head.

Step 6: Sketch L's Arms & Hands
After that, I sketched the basic outline of his arms and hands.
On the right, there are just 2 slightly curved lines starting from his shoulder and going a bit to the right and then down, with an L shape on the end and the ends of the L curving up and inwards.
On the left, it's just a rough outline of his fist, but with his thumb reaching for his mouth.
I also sketched the left edge of his upper body which is just above his knees and to the right of his hand on the left.
And I sketched the edge where his calves meet his thighs.

Step 7: Sketch L's Feet & Hands
Then, I sketched the collar of his shirt and I added details to his toes.

Next, I sketched his fingers.
On his hand on the left, I just sketched 4 candy cane shapes to resemble his fingers.
On his other hand, I sketched 3 somewhat straight lines and I sketched the nail on his thumb.

Step 8: Sketch The Wrinkles In L's Clothing
After that, I went all out with the wrinkles in his clothes.
I first did his shirt, making sure to follow the natural direction of the wrinkles.

Then, I did the same for his pants.

Step 9: Outline L With A Fineliner
After completing the sketch, I outlined the whole drawing with a black fineliner.
Once I was done, I erased the pencil sketch, leaving a clean outline of L.

Step 10: Color L With Markers
To finish the drawing, I colored L with Ohuhu Honolulu alcohol-based markers.
I colored:
- His skin with WG01;
- The grey parts of his hair with CG070;
- The rest of his hair with NG06;
- His shirt and his eyes with CG020;
- And his pants with PB9.

Next, I colored:
- The shadows in his hair and his pupils with Black;
- The shadows on his skin with WG070;
- The shadows on his shirt with CG050;
- And the shadows on his pants with PB11.

And lastly, I used:
- CG050 to add shadows to the top half of his eyes;
- CG070 to add a few dark shadows on his shirt and below his eyes;
- And CGII09 to add the darkest shadows on his pants.

And that's how you draw and color L.
