Drawing Supplies I Used In This Tutorial
To make this drawing, I used Ohuhu Honolulu markers in the colors Red Grey 03 (RG030), Soft Sun (E160), Rose Beige (BR3), Leather (E260), Yellow Green (GY4), Apple Green (G260), Deep Olive Green (GY43), Rose Buvard (R12), and Pastel Rose (R9).

I used a Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen to outline the sketch.
And I made this drawing on Canson Illustration Manga Paper.
How Do You Draw A Kawaii Cactus?
To draw a kawaii cactus, start with a round plant pot. Then sketch a big, balloon-shaped cactus with chubby arms and texture lines. Add a cute face, spikes, and outline your drawing with a bold pen. Finally, color it in with soft greens and warm browns to bring your cactus to life!
Step 1: Sketch A Round Pot For The Cactus
We're first going to sketch the pot the cactus is in.
I started by drawing a slightly curved oval near the middle of my page to create the top edge of the pot. This gives it a 3D look.

After that, I added a parallel line below it and drew the side of the rim of the pot.

And to finish the pot off, I added the main part of the pot that gets narrower as it goes further down.

Step 2: Draw The Balloon-Shaped Cactus Body
After that, we can start sketching the body of the cactus.
To make the cactus look cute, I made his body big and quite round, almost balloon-shaped.

Next, I gave him cute arms that point upwards and added 4 curved lines to texture his body, leaving space in the middle for his face.

Step 3: Add A Kawaii Face With Big Eyes And Blush
Then, I added his cute little face, starting with 2 round eyes and a happy smile in between.

To make him look cuter, I added a blush dot below both eyes and little circles for the sparkles in his eyes.

Step 4: Add Spikes To Make It Look More Cactus-y
To complete the sketch, I added spikes all over the outer edge of the cactus and above and below his face.
He’s starting to look like a real cutie now!

Step 5: Outline With A Brush Pen For A Bold Look
Before coloring a cartoon-style drawing like this one, I like to outline the sketch with a black brush pen. If you don't have one, a fineliner works fine too.
I outlined the whole sketch except for the blush spots. I also colored the main part of the eyes black.

Now the kawaii cactus is ready to be colored.
Step 6: Color The Pot Using Warm Brown Tones
Coloring is my favorite part of any drawing, and to do this, I used my Ohuhu Honolulu alcohol based markers.
I first colored the shadow below the pot with Red Grey 03 (RG030) and the top left edge of the pot with Soft Sun (E160).

Then, I used Rose Beige (BR3) to color the remainder of the pot.

To finish the plant pot, I used Leather (E260) to create a dark brown shadow on the right and below the rim. I also colored the small parts of the inside of the pot with a black pen.

Step 7: Color The Cactus With Greens And Add Shading
After that, I colored the cactus itself.
I started by coloring the left edges of his body and arms with Yellow Green (GY4) and his blush spots with Pastel Rose (R9).

Then, I used Apple Green (G260) to color the remainder of the cactus.

Lastly, I added some dark green shading to the right and bottom of the cactus with Deep Olive Green (GY43) and added 2 darker streaks in both of his blush spots with Rose Buvard (R12).

Final Result
And that’s it! Your kawaii cactus is done!
