How To Draw A Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk - Simple Step-By-Step Tutorial

In this car drawing tutorial, I will show you how to draw a Jeep Trackhawk, a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk to be more specific.
I've divided each part into simple steps so you can easily follow along and create your own realistic Jeep Trackhawk drawing.
Let's get started!

How Do You Draw A Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk?
To create a realistic drawing of a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, I first searched for a reference photo that I liked.
After that, I sketched the outline of the Trackhawk using the grid method.
Next, I colored the car with alcohol markers, starting with the black and gray areas before moving on to the main body of the car.
Finally, I added details with colored pencils and highlights using a Posca paint marker.
Step 1: Look For A Reference Photo Of A Jeep Trackhawk You Like
When drawing a realistic car, using a reference photo is a must.
For this tutorial, I chose to use this photo I found on unsplash.com:

Step 2: Choose What Drawing Supplies And Colors To Use
To make this drawing, I used Ohuhu Honolulu markers in the colors Colorless Blender (0), Neutral Grey 03 (CG030), Neutral Grey 3 (NG03), Neutral Grey 07 (CG070), Neutral Grey 6 (NG06), Neutral Grey 7 (NG07), Black (120), Pastel Rose (R9), Cadmium Red (R160), Rose Red (R6), and Old Red (R7). I also used the black and white Derwent Chromaflow colored pencils.
And to add white highlights, I used a white Posca PC-3M paint marker.
I made this drawing on A4-sized Canson Illustration Manga paper.
Step 3: Sketch The Outline Of The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
To sketch cars like this Jeep Trackhawk, I like to use a sketching technique called the grid method to make it easier to get the proportions right.
Make sure to check out this guide I wrote about the grid method if you're not sure how to use it.
To use this sketching technique, I first need to resize the reference photo to have the same size as my paper, which translates to 3508 by 2480 pixels.
Then, I added a grid overlay of 15 by 10.5 squares on the photo.

Next, I recreated the grid on my paper, but I only sketched the grid squares I marked red. You can sketch all squares, but I like to sketch the minimal amount needed to draw the car.

Next, I started sketching the outline.
I broke the outer edge of the car up into simple lines. For each line, I marked where it starts and ends, and where it crosses grid lines. than, I sketched the line in one smooth motion.
I did this until the whole outline was complete.

Step 4: Sketch The Parts Of The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
After that, I started adding in all the parts of the Trackhawk.
I first sketched the basic outlines of the headlights, the grills, the windows, etc. I also added the most distinct body lines.
To do this, I used the same technique as before.
I broke every part up into simple lines, then marked where they start and end, and where they cross grid lines, and then sketched them.

Next, I added all the details to those parts using the same technique again.
I did leave the wheels for the next step as they need a little more explanation.
I also forgot to sketch the details in the lower grill and the splitter, but we'll get to those in the next step as well.

Step 5: Sketch The Wheels Of The Jeep Trackhawk
Next up, I sketched the wheels.
In step 3, I already sketched the outline of the wheels. I did this by marking the top, right, and bottom edges. Next, I mark where the outer edge of the tire crosses grid lines, and then I sketch the outline as smoothly as possible.
Sometimes, I also mark the left edge of the tire. This makes it easier to get the shape right as you can then see the full ellipse. But for some reason I did not do this for the Trackhawk.
After that, I sketched the outer edge of the rim. To do this, I marked the top, right, bottom, and left edges, and where it crosses grid lines. Next I sketched the line as smoothly as possible.
I also marked the center with a small ellipse.

Next, I sketched the star-shaped spokes which consist of 5 V-shapes with the bottom of the V pointing toward the center.

After that, I added thickness to the spokes by sketching a line to the left of each spoke.
I also added another rim line on the right half and I marked the bolts around the center.

Lastly, I sketched the brake disc and caliper.

Then, I repeated these steps for the rear wheel. However, in the rear wheel you can't see the brake disc and caliper.

And now was the time I realized I forgot to sketch the details on the front splitter earlier...
I sketched this sensor thing in the grill and I added the details in the splitter below it.

Now the sketch is done and ready to be colored.
Step 6: Color All Pure Black Parts Of The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
After I complete a sketch, the first thing I color are the pure black parts.
I do this because it's simple and it makes the rest of the drawing look less complicated.

Step 7: Color The Wheels Of The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
Next, I colored the wheels.
I started by coloring the brake caliper and disc, and some parts of the rim and the spokes of the front wheel with NG03.
I also colored the top half of the bottom spoke and the left spokes of the rear wheel with this grey.

Then, I used CG070 to color the rest of both wheels and I added some shadows on the brake caliper and disc of the front wheel.

Lastly, I used NG06 to add the darkest shadings on the wheels. I mainly used it to color the tire, the top half of the spokes, and a few details on the front wheel, and on the rear wheel I colored almost everything except for the top half of the bottom spoke.

Step 8: Color The Shadow Of The Jeep Trackhawk
After that, I colored the shadow.
I first colored the whole shadow with CG030.

Then, I used CG070 to color the part in between the CG030 and the black.

Lastly, I blended all the grey tones together to form a smooth gradient from white to black.
I did this by using CG070 to color over the edge of the black.
I used CG030 to color over the edge of the CG070.
And I used the colorless blender to color over the edge of the CG030.
Doing this softens the edges and blends them out to form a smoother transition between the grey tones.

Step 9: Color The Front Splitter & Lower Grills Of The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
Next, I used CG070 to color the sensor in the lower grill, the lighter grey spots on the splitter, and the left edge of the right grill.

Then, I used NG06 to color the rest of the splitter and to add details and shading to the sensor.
I also darkened the top and bottom of the left edge of the right grill.

Step 10: Color The Top Grills & Headlights Of The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
Next up, I colored the headlights and the grill piece in between them.
I first colored the thin lights with CG030 and the rest with NG03.

Then, I used CG070 to color the right half of the grill as well as most of the inside of the headlights.
On the left headlight I left a bit on the right uncolored, and on the right headlight I left a C-like shape on the left and a small rectangle on the right uncolored.
I also darkened the edge below the left headlight.

Lastly, I used NG06 to add some dark spots on the left side of the left headlights and the edge below it. And I use it to add some dark grey around the small rectangle in the right headlights as well as the edge around that headlight.

Step 11: Color The Windshield & The Roof Of The Jeep Trackhawk
After that, I colored the roof with CG030.

Then, I used NG03 to darken the bottom half of the roof and to color the side windows you can see through the windshield.

Next, I colored the interior and the rest of the windshield with CG070.

Lastly, I use NG06 to color the right half of the windshield and interior.

Step 12: Color The Side Windows Of The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
Next, I colored the side windows.
I first color the bits of the rear window you can see through the side windows and the whole rear side window with NG03.
I also colored the roof rack thingy above the side windows with it.

Then, I used CG070 to color the rest of the side windows and I used NG03 to blend the CG070 into the NG03 by coloring over the edge where the two colors meet on the left edge of the rear side window.

Lastly, I used NG06 to darken the front side window except for this one spot to the left of the door mirror.

Now all that's left is the main body of the car.

Step 13: Color The Main Body Of The Jeep Trackhawk
I first colored the whole body of the car with R9.
Well, I mean I did not. I did leave these 2 spots on the side of the Trackhawk lighter pink, but I ended up coloring over them with R9 later on.

Next, I used R160 to add the darker reflections.

Then, I used R6 to add some shading to those reflections, mainly on the side, a few bits on the hood, and on the front.

Lastly, I used R7 to add just a few really dark red reflections.
I added those on the bottom and left edge of the lower front grill, the lower edge of the side of the Jeep, the top edge of the hood, and a few spots on the right edge of the car.

Now the Jeep Trackhawk is fully colored, but there are still 2 things we need to do.
Step 14: Add Details To Your Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Drawing
First, I used a black and a white colored pencil to add some details to the Jeep.
I used the white pencil to add highlights to the lighter reflections on the car and panel edges, and to add details to the wheels.
I also used this pencil to add the mesh to the lower grills and to add the details to the splitter.
I used the black pencil to add the panel gaps like the door edges, the hood gaps, and other gaps on the Jeep.

Step 15: Add Highlights To The Jeep Trackhawk Drawing
To finish the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk drawing off, I added a few white highlights all over the car with my white Posca PC-3M paint marker.
I mainly highlighted the thing light thingies in the headlights, the right edge of the front wheel and the brake caliper, some bits on the splitter, and edges on the car.

And that's how I drew this Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
