Drawing Supplies I Used to Draw the Lamborghini Veneno
To draw this Veneno Roadster, I used the following art supplies:
- A graphite pencil, a ruler, a kneaded eraser, and a regular eraser;
- Winsor & Newton Promarkers in the colors Ice Grey 1 (IG1), Ice Grey 2 (IG2), Ice Grey 4 (IG4), Ice Grey 7 (IG7), and Black (XB);
- Ohuhu Honolulu markers in the colors Beige Green (G240), Moss (G270), Pine Tree Green (G470), and Acid Yellow (Y070). I also used the colorless blender;
- Derwent Coloursoft pencils in the colors White, Dove Grey, and Black;
- And a white Posca PC-1MR.
Reference Photos I Used to Draw this Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
To make this drawing of the Lamborghini Veneno, I used 2 reference photos. 1 for the proportions and the perspective and 1 for the lighting and the reflections.
I used this photo for the perspective.
And I used this photo for the reflections.
How Do You Draw a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster?
To make a realistic drawing of a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, first gather a few reference photos for the perspective, proportions, lighting, reflections, and color.
After that, create a sketch of the outline of the car using the grid method.
Next, color the car with alcohol markers starting with the black and the grey parts, before moving on to the main body of the Veneno Roadster.
Lastly, add some details with colored pencils and highlights with a Posca paint marker.
Step 1: Sketch the Outline of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
To sketch the Lamborghini Veneno, I'm using the grid method. This technique makes sketching a car with accurate proportions a lot easier. You can learn more about how to use it here.
1. Resize the reference photo for the proportions to the same size as your piece of paper which is in this case A4 size or 3508 by 2480 pixels.
2. Add a grid overlay of 15 by 10.5 squares on top of the reference image.
3. Sketch that same grid on your piece of paper. Each grid square is 2 by 2 cm. I only sketched the squares I needed.
4. Sketch the basic outline of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster. Start by picking a part of the outline, mark where it starts and ends, mark where it crosses grid lines, and then sketch the line in one quick motion.
I like to start on the left and work my way up and around the car until I've covered the whole outline.
5. Sketch the biggest shapes of the car like the windshield outline, the mirrors, and the basic shape of the front panels.
6. Sketch the details of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster.
7. Sketch the Interior and the wheels.
Step 2: Color All Pure Black Parts of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
8. Use the Black Promarker to color all pure black parts. This makes the drawing look a lot easier and less overwhelming in my experience.
Step 3: Color the Wheels of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
Before you start coloring any part, you need to lighten your sketch first with a kneaded eraser (or a normal one) until it's just about visible.
9. Use Ice Grey 4 to color both wheels.
10. Use Ice Grey 7 to add depth and darker tones to both wheels while leaving the top spokes and the top of the tires lighter grey.
Step 4: Color the Lower Side of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
11. Use Ice Grey 2 to color the grey part on the side of the Lamborghini Veneno.
12. Use Ice Grey 4 to darker the left and the top bit of the lower part and color the left and the bottom of the top part. Also, color a diagonal darker reflection below the big air intake.
13. Use Ice Grey 7 to darken the darker grey parts on the top part.
Step 5: Color the Front Aero Parts and Grills of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
14. Use Ice Grey 2 to color the lightest parts of the front aero parts toward the bottom left.
15. Use Ice Grey 4 to color the rest of the front aero parts and color slightly over the lightest parts to create crisp shadows.
16. Use Ice Grey 7 to add more depth to the aero parts by coloring most of them while leaving some edges lightest where the light hits.
Step 6: Color the Shadow of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
17. Use Ice Grey 1 to color the shadow underneath the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster.
18. Use Ice Grey 4 to color in between the black and the Ice Grey 1.
19. Use Ice Grey 7 to blend the black by going over the edge of the black bits in the shadow.
20. Use Ice Grey 4 to blend the Ice Grey 7 into the Ice Grey 4 by coloring over the edge where the two colors meet.
21. Use Ice Grey 1 to blend the Ice Grey 4 into the Ice Grey 1 by coloring over the edge where the two colors meet.
22. Use the colorless blender to blend the Ice Grey 1 into the white of the paper.
Step 7: Color the Vents on the front of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
23. Use Ice Grey 4 to color the smaller vents on the front and the big vent below the windshield.
24. Use Ice Grey 7 to darken the left half of the big vent and the left side of the fins, and the bottom and the left of the smaller vents.
Step 8: Color the Windshield and the Interior of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
25. Use Ice Grey 4 to color the dashboard, the window surrounds, and the interior outside of the windshield.
26. Use Ice Grey 7 to color
- the windshield
- the headrests
- the dashboard except for the steering wheel and the part below the steering wheel
- the bottom half of the side window
- the top and right of the windshield surround
- and the grey bit to the left of the left headrest
Step 9: Color the Rear Wing and Other Grey Parts on the Back of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
27. Use I ce Grey 2 to color all grey parts on the rear of the Veneno including the wing.
28. Use Ice Grey 4 to darken the whole wing and most of the other grey parts leaving a few light spots on the left, on the louvers behind the seats, and on top front of the arches behind the seats.
29. Use Ice Grey 7 to color/darken:
- the rear wing
- the fuel cap
- the left of both arches behind the seats
- the right side of the louvers
- and a few small bits on the rest of the rear of the car
Step 10: Color the Headlights of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
30. Use Ice Grey 1 to color the headlights.
31. Use Ice Grey 2 to color the headlights except for the y-shaped lights.
32. Use Ice Grey 4 to add some details and reflections to the headlights and blend the details out a bit in the right headlight.
33. Use Ice Grey 7 to add some dark refections to both headlights: a dark line to the right of the top left bit of the y-shape and the bottom right of the left headlight, and a curved line blended into the lighter greys at the top of the right headlight.
Step 11: Color the Lamborghini Logo on the Front of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
34. Use Acid Yellow to color the Lamborghini logo on the front of the Veneno.
Step 12: Color the Main Body of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
35. Use Beige Green to color the full body of the Veneno.
36. Use Moss to add some darker reflections and shadow parts to the main body, mostly on the left side and the rear of the car.
37. Use Pine Tree Green to add more depth to the darker green parts.
Step 13: Add Details to Your Drawing of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
38. Use the White Derwent pencil to add highlights and details to:
- the headlights
- panel edges all over the car
- the lightest reflections on the car, mainly on the left and the right
- and a few spokes of both wheels
39. Use the Black Coloursof pencil to add details to:
- the spokes
- the headlights
- panel gaps
- windshield wipers
- and the bottom edge of the wing
40. Use the Dove Grey pencil to add details to the spokes and the tires and to grey out the top half of the dark reflections on the left side of the Veneno.
Step 14: Add White Highlights to Your Drawing of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
41. Use the white Posca paint marker to add white highlights all over the car, mainly on the lightest reflections and panel edges.
And That's How You Draw a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
