The Irresistible Allure of the Ferrari Monza SP2

The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 are already epic cars to begin with, but when I saw this Monza SP2 in dark blue with this bold red interior I knew I needed to draw it.

The thought of drawing it first came to mind when I saw a truly beautiful photo of it in Paris on Instagram about 2 years ago now. And it kept popping up in my mind over and over again. So, I finally gave in and drew this car.

Attention to Detail

This car is such a work of art and I wanted to do it justice. I spent a long time getting all the details right and creating some beautiful majestic reflections all over the car.

The reflections look so good, the greyish dark blue came out exactly how I wanted, but the thing I am most proud of is the front wheel. The shining silver and the matching brake caliper turned out perfectly.

Alcohol Markers & Colored Pencils

For this Ferrari Monza SP2, I decided to use mixed media to make this car really come to life.

I drew this car on sturdy 200gsm paper. I first used alcohol markers to color the base and I then used high-quality and fade-resistant colored pencils to color all the details and color nuances. Lastly, I used an acrylic paint marker to add a few very bright white highlights to make the car really pop.
